Ugly Christmas Sweater fundraiser

Sweaters for a Purpose!

A tradition continues at ESU #3! Not just a day to wear a holiday ugly sweater; a day to donate to a good cause. What Greg Schwanke started in 2015 as a Salvation Army contest, has become a yearly opportunity to be festive AND raise money for various causes. ESU #3 employees pay $5 to wear their ugly sweaters and the money is given to a family, organization, or cause that helps those in need.

During the first three years, money was raised for the Salvation Army as part of their Red Kettle campaign and their Corporate Ugly Sweater challenge. ESU #3 won the Corporate Challenge in 2016. In 2018 money was raised to sponsor a Go Baby Go project and modify a power wheel car for a local toddler with mobility limitation. This year, 2019, money is being raised for an ESU #3 family dealing with a lot of medical hardships.

“Starting this ESU #3 holiday tradition was a fun way to celebrate the season and increase camaraderie across ESU #3 departments while doing some good and giving back to the community,” says Greg Schwanke.

We look forward to continuing this fun, holiday event that also supports those in need. #BeKind
