Hello and Welcome to the Educational Service Unit #3!
My name is Dr. Dan J. Schnoes, and I am very honored to serve as the Chief Executive Officer for ESU #3. I have had the privilege of working for ESU #3 for the past 10 years. I look forward to continuing to work in an organization that promotes excellent services and leadership and working with our 18-member school districts, the ESU #3 Board, the ESU #3 staff, and the communities we serve. In my 41 years of past experiences in education, I have served as a Superintendent of Schools, Secondary Principal, Assistant Principal, Athletic Director, Teacher, and Coach. Previous to ESU #3, I served as the Superintendent of Schools at Douglas County West Community Schools. I have also had the opportunity to serve as an educational consultant and national trainer. As an Adjunct Professor, I have taught classes on Educational Leadership at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Currently, I serve as the Past-President of the ESU Coordinating Council (2023-2025). I also serve as the President of NASA (Nebraska Association of School Administrators (2023-2024) and will serve as the NCSA Chair for the NCSA Executive Board (2024-2025). I also serve as the Central Region Representative on the Executive Council for AESA (Association of Educational Service Agencies for 2022-2026), and was recently selected as President-Elect (2024-25) for AESA’s Executive Council. I feel honored to have the opportunity to work alongside my colleagues on these state and national boards.
My educational training began in Fremont, Nebraska, where I obtained a B.S. Degree in Education from Midland College (now Midland University). Next, I was granted a M.S. Degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Nebraska, in Educational Administration in 1995. Finally in 2008, I completed my Specialist Degree and Doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Nebraska.
I have been blessed with a great and supportive family. My wife Connie is a Clinical Psychologist at Boys Town. I have six children and eight grandchildren, with one on the way.
I am looking forward to serving all of you through the work we do at ESU #3.
